The Gateway P-171XL FX is for older, classier type of audience rather than that the teenage crowd. Older crowd will appreciate the subtleness of the copper edges and around the keyboard area. Its FX logo on the lid isn’t even noticeable and won’t even catch your attention. Gateway has remained subtle on this one by polishing it with black exterior.

This has one of those designs that you would be comfortable carrying around in public. The Gateway T-6828 might have an old concept in terms of design but those who like their laptops in red paint will surely have a grand time carrying this all over town.

The Gateway T-6828 weighs 5.7 pound which is quite heavy for a 14-inch laptop. The 14-inch screen is very nice although it only has 1,280-by-800 resolution. The Fusion design is what Toshiba is very famous for. The same pattern found in the Toshiba Satellite A305-S6845 lid is also found beside the keyboard and palm rests and even through the touchpad. Its keyboard is extremely comfortable to type on.

Although the heavy glaze, when reflected by a light, has a tendency to be distracting. It somehow complements the design but the light such that of a fluorescent can get in the way of serious work. The chrome mouse buttons are cool to the touch however.
