It seems like Google [GOOG] is making some modifications to its free email service, Gmail that is used by millions of users around the globe. The main thing the company is working on is trying to speed up the service.

At the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, the Behind the Scenes of Gmail panel, asked the audience to raise their hands if they thought Gmail was slow, it appears that the service is not slow for everyone but only to certain people.

The people who are affected are the ones who are approaching the 100% full limit on their Gmail inbox. Google are currently working on the problem and though they did…

All of this mess with Google, China, and Google China has come to a head as of late.

Now, it seems that the word getting pushed around is that Google is about to close up shop and it is happening sooner than everyone has imagined it would.

Google has been optimistic about their presence in China, with some assuming that the company would shift in their views and positions or at least figure out a way to work with the Chinese government to meet both their needs. However, there is no surprise that the two of them probably could not compromise. Even if the last few things swirling around were that Google…

Over the past few weeks, a number of reports state that Google China is shutting down. Now, it looks like Google has come up with a solution to their censorship row with the Chinese Government.

Google.cn now re-directs to Google.hk, so anyone in China who goes to Google.cn will see search results from Google.hk, which Google are calling an ‘entirely legal’ way of giving people in mainland China unfiltered search results.

Although many of the results will be blocked by firewalls in China, so maybe this isn’t really a solution for Chinese Google users. The Chinese government has responded to the move by Google saying “Google has violated its written promise it…

These days, Google is always around to provide internet access to consumers such as free airport WiFi and the free WiFi network that runs in Mountain View.

This time around, Google has publicized that it is getting in the game for real with the release of a fiber-based ISP service that will provide 1Gbps speed at “competitive prices” to selected markets. The plan is to provide next generation access to between 50,000 and 500,000 people and essentially see what happens – and as expected, the new network will be a foster child for Google’s pro-net-neutrality efforts.

Google is now asking for “interested communities” to apply and the markets where it will be…

Google has released a statement to the public that it will no longer censor its search results on the Chinese version of Google. This might be aggravated by the recent cyber attacks on Google and many other large companies in the last month.

“We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China,” Google stated.
