Dell Filed a Lawsuit Alleging Five LCD Makers Fixed Prices

A lawsuit against Sharp Corp, Hitachi Ltd, Toshiba Corp and two other companies for alleged price fixing of LCD displays was filed by Dell Inc, the world’s third-largest PC maker.

According to a spokesman at Dell’s Japan unit, Dell filed the lawsuit at a U.S. district court in San Francisco against the group of five firms that also includes Japan’s Seiko Epson and Taiwan’s HannStar.

Dell has not decided the level of damages it will ask for in the lawsuit, the spokesman said.

Sharp and Hitachi said that they were aware of the lawsuit filed by Dell but declined to comment further. Toshiba and Seiko Epson said they were still making checks on…

A teaser from this year’s CES in Las Vegas reveals that Dell will soon be having their own range of tablets. The Dell Mini 5 tablet appears to be edging closer to its release.

The Dell Mini 5 sports a five inch 800 x 480 pixel multi-touch screen, runs Android 2.0, packs the mandatory Wi-Fi and 3G, and is decked out with a 5 megapixel camera plus an additional front-facing VGA webcam.

Dell document is showing a typically swish collection of colors and finishes plus a partnership with Amazon to deliver a Kindle e-book reader onto the slate, which apparently goes by the codename of ‘Streak’.
